Lynne Rees, whose new collection Learning How to Fall will be published by Parthian this September, has been invited to represent Canterbury and Kent in Words Unbound, a forthcoming international writing exchange of established and emerging poets. The first programme of events will form part of the Canterbury Festival between 6th and 10th October, followed by the Printemps de Poetes in Belgium and France in March 2006, and the Kerry Arts Festival in Tralee and Listowel, 14th to 17th April 2006.

Lynne was born and brought up on Sandfields Estate, Port Talbot and moved to Kent in 1985. She holds an MA in Writing from the University of Glamorgan and currently teaches creative writing for the University of Kent’s part-time degree programme. In 2004 the she was awarded the Faculty of Humanities Prize for innovative and imaginative practices in the teaching of poetry.

In 2003, along with Richard Gwyn and Landeg White, she took part in a British Council/Wales Arts International reading tour of Portugal, one of a series of promotional events for The Pterodactyl’s Wing – Welsh World Poetry.
