A Theatrescience play in association with the Eden Project supported by the Wellcome Trust and Arts Council England. State of Nature tells of Patrick who has an aggressive form of dementia: Lewy Body.  Patrick's life, in his large, rambling house in the Cornish countryside, is shot through with another world of memory - of the Naxalbari Uprising in India, where his commitment to radical politics brought him together with the love of his life. As the division between past and present disintegrates, Patrick's inner world refuses to be contained, and breaks out all around him. 

This work contains three stories which are by turns, emotional, dark and intriguing. The first is "Love in Plastic", the tale of Harold who coats the interior of his house in disinfected plastic and then regestates, the second "Glissando on an Empty Harp", and the third "Blue Heron in the Womb".

Jo is a young woman with a little girl. Life is a council estate and a married man who loves her. She begins as an intelligent single mother determined to get out of the poverty trap, but after her married lover gets her pregnant and leaves, she experiences a descent through love into hell.

Simon has come to the house to interview its famous resident, a reclusive artist known simply as Charles. the house is remarkable, its profound beauty born from a combination of high technology and artistic flair. But the house also turns out to be a place of danger, a prison and a laboratory, holding secrets both dark and luminous which will challenge Simon's very notion of who he is and why he exists. Still Life is an intense drama that explores how science is challenging our moral universe and what it is that makes us human.
