Parthian Hosts First Online Book Launch for Essay Anthology

On Thursday 30 July at 8pm, we'll be holding our first digital event, launching the much anticipated anthology of new and exciting writing Just So You Know: Essays of Experience.

To register for the live webinar, follow this link. You will then receive an email giving you access on the night. Spaces for attendees will be limited to 100 on the night, so don't be late! We'll also be live-streaming the action to our Facebook Page so that no one is left out.

More about the anthology

Just So You Know is a timely and important collection of essays, by writers whose voices are not heard often enough. Edited by Hanan Issa, Durre Shahwar and Özgür Uyanık, this anthology brings to light intimate, incisive explorations of language politics, neurodivergence, cultural heritage, sexual identity, immigration and race.

‘In these pages, stories, issues and lives that have all too often been swept under the carpet are brought into the light. It is writing that is carefully crafted, always resisting the temptation to simplify and clean-up difficult topics. Wales is a constant – as home, as a point of arrival and departure – but these personal narratives challenge us to think anew.’ – Darren Chetty

This book is the result of a long and exciting project which has allowed Parthian to work with a whole cohort of new and inspiring artists. It has also enabled many of these writers to come together following a creative meet-up and retreat at Rhosygilwen in October 2019. Thanks to everyone who has taken part along the way, and to the British Council and Books Council Wales for their support.

Just So You Know: Essays of Experience will be officially released on 1 August. You can pre-order your copy here
