John Tripp (1927-1986), poet, short story writer, and journalist, was an outspoken and often controversial writer whose passion and vigour often spilled over the pages he wrote and into his life. He had a chameleon genius which enlivened the literary life of Wales for nearly three decades.

This new title includes an essay by Peter Finch, declamatory poetry performer and organiser of the annual John Tripp award for spoken poetry, and is edited by Tony Curtis, Professor of Poetry at the University of Glamorgan, who also provides a critical foreword.

The Meaning of Apricot Sponge is essential reading for anyone concerned with Wales and the roots of its contemporary identity.
