For twelve years the Terry Hetherington Young Writers Award has provided a platform for emerging young writers from and living in Wales. In this year's edition of Cheval, we celebrate the very best stories and poems which were entered into the latest award.

This year's winners:

Eleanor Howe is originally from Derbyshire. She is currently living in North Wales in a beautiful old barge. She writes about nature and landscape. Eleanor’s non-fiction and critical work has been published online. Cheval 12 has brought her the opportunity for her creative work to be published.

Nathan Munday is currently living in a remote valley in Snowdonia. He completed his doctorate in literature last September. His travel book, Seven Days, published by Parthian, was a runner up in New Welsh Writing Awards 2016.
cynan
Cynan Llwyd lives in Cardiff. He was published in Cheval 10, as well as in the Welsh language collection Byd Crwm, published by Y Lolfa. His new children’s novel will be published also by Y Lolfa.
